Here’s What to Do When Your Furnace Won’t Ignite
We are making our way through the last few weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during cool nights. Nothing is worse than turning in at night and realizing your furnace won’t turn on. If you find yourself in this situation, here are a couple things you can check yourself before your call Stevenson Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should change standard air filters monthly. If you fail to do so, they can get clogged, restricting air flow and resulting in your furnace malfunctioning.
Check Your Thermostat
Start by turning the thermostat up a few degrees to get the furnace to turn on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem obvious, but make sure the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch was not accidently flipped to the “Off” position.
If you check all these things and your heating system will still not start up, give Stevenson Service Experts a call at 614-334-3192 and we’ll come out and take care of you as soon as possible.
