4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Should you replace your boiler? Chief/Bauer Service Experts is here with a couple signs to look for when deciding whether it’s time to buy a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler has standard maintenance, you can expect it to operate about 15 years or so. Cast iron boilers can last a lot longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is close to 15 years or your cast iron boiler is almost 50 years, it may be time to discuss an upgrade.

Bills

If your heating bills are rising or you’re having to maintain your boiler more frequently, it could be because it’s time to buy a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you discover yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be a signal that the fuel is not burning correctly and could be creating carbon monoxide. If you see these issues or have any concerns surrounding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Chief/Bauer or your gas company immediately.

Comfort

If some of the rooms in your home are too cool or too warm and you can’t seem to control them correctly or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective and you might need to look into upgrade options.
